Apprenticeships

APC is continuously looking for individuals with an interest in business and administration, engineering, mechanical, welding and rigging to join our team via the APC Apprenticeship scheme.

University Bursary

The APC partnership with the University of Limerick has several goals to support the enhancement of our graduate engineering programme and the growth of APC into the future. APC is also involved with both the Kemmy Business School and the Centre of Project Management at the University of Limerick.

Graduate Programme

The APC Graduate Programme is designed to give the graduate an opportunity to become acquainted with each of the main departments within APC’s organisation over two years.

Since this I have then gone onto achieve my Level 3 CIPD and I am currently working through my Level 5. From an early age, I’ve been captivated by the world of numbers and science, which led me to become an engineer. After college, I moved to Ireland, joined APC, and had my first chance to work directly in engineering, and that’s where I found my passion. My first project was on a site outage, it was the first time I worked on a mechanical engineering project, and I had all the support I needed from my supervisor. Since then, I’ve worked on a construction project expanding my knowledge across the disciplines of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering from brilliant engineers. APC has provided me with ample opportunities to explore a variety of engineering fields and, the company has consistently supported my growth with valuable courses and conference participations.

Being from the Belfast area, I knew there were major works ongoing at Kilroot Power Station, so when I saw a LinkedIn post for a Graduate Engineer, I knew it was of great interest to me. The Energy / Power Generation industry is where I was aiming for after University. Although I was unaware of APC prior to this, I have since realised they are a big player within the Irish and UK power industries.

My tasks here are varied, with much of my time spent in procurement, construction and quality, with frequent communication with suppliers and clients, which I enjoy. I look forward to gaining experience in other areas of the company once the Kilroot Project is complete, and I’m confident Kilroot has been a great stepping stone for my next project.

I started my journey with Atlantic Projects Company in 2017 when I entered a get-into-work scheme which APC arranged to help youths get onto new projects in their local areas. Throughout the duration of the four-week course, I gained basic knowledge and experience in the engineering industry. At the end of the course, I was fortunate enough to be chosen by APC to go forward and work on their projects, and with time, the company offered me numerous opportunities. They continually helped me improve myself and develop a skillset I could use going forward into the industry.

Then, thanks to the company, I was recommended for an improvership in mechanical fitting to hone my skills and become a qualified mechanical fitter. During the training course, APC was supportive and always gave me the time I needed to focus on my work. As a company, they are dedicated in their mission to look out for the younger generation. They help get them into the industry, improve their skills and ultimately get a great start in a rewarding career and life overall.
